In this paper, I recognize that the current Korean geography is in crisis internally by the physicalhuman dichotomy. Thus, strategic coupling between physical and human geographies focusing on a specific research theme is needed to escape the crisis. In this sense, I pay attention to the field of urban disaster as a research theme for convergence research. The structure of the article is as follows. First, I critically review the existing literature on critical human geography (i.e. the urban political ecology, the thesis on planetary urbanization and the more-than-human geographies) and its empirical studies on urban disaster. Second, I clarify the implications of critical physical geography for the successful strategic coupling with critical human geography. Lastly, the Four Major Rivers research is suggested for critical physical geography research while considering Korean geographers\u2019 methodological capacity.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
